MP FINALIST

Dancers who are interested in competing for Magic Performer of the Year may now pre-qualify at an LADM regional event with a registered solo in our competition.  Interested dancers may compete a solo in our regional competition and register for the MP FINALIST program.  Dancers registered for MP FINALIST who receive a platinum or double platinum medal placement for their solo will qualify as an MP FINALIST.  Dancers who qualify as an MP FINALIST by scoring platinum or double platinum will be invited to attend this season’s National Finals and participate in the MP EXPERIENCE, to compete for the title MAGIC PERFORMER OF THE YEAR.

In order to participate in our regional MP FINALIST program dancers must:

  • 1. Attend a regional event this season.
  • 2. Register and compete in a group routine.
  • 3. Register and compete a solo.  Exhibition solos are not eligible.

To register, please select MP FINALIST for each solo you would like to enter through our online convention and competition registration system.  Dancers may enter multiple solos for MP FINALIST.  A fee of $45 will be charged per entry.  Winners will be announced during solo awards for each age division.  Exhibition solos are not eligible to compete for MP FINALIST.  However, all registered dancers who participate in our competition, exhibition solos included, are invited to attend Scholarship Auditions and audition for Magic Performer of the Weekend.  Dancers who participate in the MP FINALIST program are still eligible to audition for Magic Performer of the Weekend.

THE MAGIC PERFORMER EXPERIENCE!

Our Magic Performers are in for the time of their lives! We have made exciting changes that will bring even more fun to their National Finals week, and will make the entire event easier for our MP parents! Check out our new additions!

  • Those selected from 2023-2024 regional events as “Magic Performer of the Weekend,” “Magic Performer of the Weekend Runner Up,” or “MP Finalist” will be eligible to attend the MP Experience held at National Finals 2024.
  • The MP Experience – $575 (For Magic Performers of the Weekend) includes:
    • National Finals Convention Tuition
    • One (1) National Finals Gala Ticket
    • Magic Performer Solo Fee
    • Magic Performer T-shirt
    • Magic Performer Rehearsals
    • National Finals Gala Performance
    • MProv Competition
    • Magic Performer Private Party (includes dancer’s entry fee plus (1) additional ticket.
  • The MP Experience – $675 (For Magic Performers of the Weekend Runner Up & MP Finalists) includes:
    • National Finals Convention Tuition
    • One (1) National Finals Gala Ticket
    • Magic Performer Solo Fee

Magic Performer Solo Competition!

Magic Performers will now compete in their own MP Solo Competition!

  • Junior Prep, Junior, Preteen, Teen, and Senior Magic Performers will compete a solo in the MP Solo Competition. Mini Magic Performers will showcase their solo during the MP Solo Competition (no adjudication, performance only).
  • Magic Performers may compete any style they choose in the MP Solo Competition.
  • The top five (5) Junior Prep, Junior, Preteen, Teen, and Senior soloists (five each) will be announced at the Magic Performer Private Party!
  • All Magic Performers will be recognized during the Magic Performer Private Party.
  • Magic Performers may compete the same solo for both the MP Solo Competition and National Finals Competition.  Dancers interested in competing a solo in the National Finals Competition must register for National Finals competition through the LA DanceMagic Convention & Competition registration system (please check with your studio to do so.)

 

MProv Competition!

  • Junior Prep, Junior, Preteen, Teen, and Senior Magic Performers will compete in an improv competition following the MP Solo Competition.
  • The top five (5) Junior Prep, Junior, Preteen Teen, and Seniors  (five each) in the Magic Performer MProv Competition will be announced at the Magic Performer Private Party!
  • All Mini Magic Performers will improv onstage together in the MProv Competition. 

 

NEW! Magic Performer Selection!

  • Magic Performer of the Year awards are based on an accumulation of the MP Solo Competition, rehearsal etiquette, class etiquette, and MProv Competition.  All winners will be announced at the Magic Gala 2024.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

REGISTRATION DATES:

Magic Performer registration will close on June 1st, 2024.  MP registration, payment, and paperwork are due no later than June 2nd, 2024.

REQUIRED PAPERWORK:

All “Magic Performer of the Weekend,” “Magic Performer of the Weekend Runners Up,” and qualifying “MP Finalist” dancers must submit and/or complete the following items as part of their MP registration:

  1. MP Experience Registration: please use the link below to register.  MP Experience fees will be due in full at the time of registration.
  2. National Finals registration is through the LADM Convention & Competition system.  Please check with your studio regarding this registration.  Once your MP Experience registration has been submitted and paid in full, LADM will apply this payment to your National Finals registration.  Please do not pay for National Finals convention tuition through this system.
  3. MP Google Form: A link to this form will be emailed once your MP registration is complete.
  4. The following items are required as part of your registration and will be uploaded directly to the MP Google form;
    1. Color headshot
    2. A copy of your most recent report card.
    3. Copy of your scholarship or award (Magic Performer of the Weekend, Magic Performer of the Weekend Runner Up or MP Finalist).
  5. Letter of recommendation: Rec letters must be submitted by your studio owner/director directly to LA DanceMagic via email, office@ladancemagic.com.

 

COSTUME INFORMATION:

Magic Performers will receive a shirt for their performance in the Magic Gala.  This shirt is included as part of your MP Experience.  Magic Performers will be responsible to supply additional costume items for their performance in the Magic Gala.

CHECK-IN & REHEARSAL:

All Magic Performers must check in on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County at 6:00pm for a meeting & short rehearsal.  Magic Performers will rehearse daily July 2-7th.  Rehearsal schedules will be available at least one week prior to the event.

 

MAGIC GALA & PERFORMANCE:

All Magic Performers will perform in the LA DanceMagic Magic Gala on July 7th, Magic Performers of the Year will be awarded at the Magic Gala.  Performers must be present in order to win.  

All Magic Performers will receive one Magic Gala ticket included as part of your MP Experience.  This Magic Gala ticket is non-transferable and may only be used by the registered Magic Performer.  Any attending family or friends that would like to attend the Magic Gala must purchase a ticket online when they become available.  Attendees must have a ticket to enter the ballroom.  All other guests without tickets will NOT be allowed into the ballroom.  The Magic Gala will take place on the evening of July 7th, we do not recommend dancers planning departures on the night of July 7th.
